TSA policy change designed to improve travel experience and reduce wait times.
Pasco, WA – A new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) policy has gone into effect at the Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) that allows all passengers to keep their shoes on during the security screening at the airport’s TSA checkpoints.
The policy, first announced July 8 by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, is designed to improve the overall travel experience and reduce wait times at airports nationwide. Travelers departing from PSC will now benefit from a more streamlined security process without compromising safety.
“Ending the ‘Shoes-Off’ policy is the latest effort to modernize and enhance traveler experience across our nation’s airports,” said Secretary Noem. “We expect this change will drastically decrease passenger wait times at our TSA checkpoints, leading to a more pleasant and efficient passenger experience. As always, security remains our top priority.”
Thanks to the TSA’s screening technology and multi-layered security approach, this change is possible without sacrificing the safety of air travel. Other essential security protocols—including identity verification, Secure Flight vetting, and baggage screening—remain firmly in place.
“This is welcome news for our travelers, who can now enjoy an even smoother experience when they fly local,” said Buck Taft, Director of the Tri-Cities Airport. “We’re committed to working alongside our TSA partners to make the security process as smooth and stress-free as possible for everyone flying out of PSC.”
Passengers are still encouraged to arrive at the airport with ample time before their flight, especially during peak travel periods. For more information on current security procedures or travel tips, visit www.tsa.gov or www.flytricities.com.
