Frequently Asked Questions

Flight Information

View this page for the latest status. Any changes in the itinerary will be communicated by your airline to the contact you used when booking.

For most flights, arrive at least 90 minutes before departure. Allow extra time if you need assistance at the airline ticket counter or if your destination is international. Most airlines begin boarding 45 minutes before departure, so you must check in and pass through screening by this time.

At PSC, we hope to provide a smooth travel experience for travelers of all abilities. To learn more about specific accommodations, visit our Accessibility page. If you still have questions, please call 509-547-6352.

The Tri-Cities Airport does not determine ticket pricing. Each airline sets its own prices based on routes, dates of travel, and how far in advance you make a reservation.

Live animals that are being shipped can be dropped off or picked up at your airline’s ticket counter. Live cargo will be available for pick up approximately 30-45 minutes after your flight arrives. Be sure to read your airline’s policies and recommendations for checking in live cargo.

Some airlines permit small cats and dogs to travel in the passenger cabin. Please check your airline’s website to see if this is allowed. Per FAA rules, any pet traveling in the passenger cabin must be in a pet container small enough to fit underneath your seat without blocking the main aisle of the airplane. Your pet container must remain properly stowed while the plane is in motion on the ground and for take-off and landing.

Baggage

Baggage fees are set by each airline. Check your airline’s baggage policy on their website when booking tickets.

Typically, the maximum size for a carry-on is 9 x 14 x 22 inches (45 linear inches), but rules vary by airline. We recommend checking your airline’s website for their specific baggage policy before flying.

You are limited to a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes in your carry-on bag. These items must be in containers of 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item. Items in containers larger than 3.4 ounces should be placed in checked baggage.

You may travel with your medication in both carry-on and checked baggage. It is recommended that all medications be clearly labeled to facilitate the screening process.

Medication in liquid form is allowed in carry-on bags in excess of 3.4 ounces in reasonable quantities for the flight. However, you must inform a TSA officer that you have medically necessary liquids at the start of the screening process. These liquids will be subject to additional screening that could include being asked to open the container.

You may transport unloaded firearms in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only. Declare the firearm and/or ammunition to the airline when checking your bag at the ticket counter. The container must completely secure the firearm from being accessed. Locked cases that can be easily opened are not permitted. Only the passenger should retain the key or combination to the lock unless TSA personnel request the key to open the firearm container to ensure compliance with TSA regulations. You may use any brand or type of lock to secure your firearm case, including TSA-recognized locks. Firearm magazines and ammunition clips, whether loaded or empty, must be securely boxed or included within a hard-sided case containing an unloaded firearm. Small arms ammunition, including ammunition not exceeding .75 caliber and shotgun shells of any gauge, may be carried in the same hard-sided case as the firearm.

Yes, you may pack food in your carry-on bag. All food must undergo X-ray screening, and foods that are liquids, gels, or aerosols must comply with the 3-1-1 liquids rule. TSA officers make the final decision on whether certain items are permitted into the secured areas of the airport.

Only Alaska Airlines allows their Mileage Plan™ members to check a case of wine with no baggage fee, thanks to their Wine Flies Free program. Otherwise, a case of wine may be checked as luggage on any airline for their standard baggage fee.

Parking & Ground Transportation

Yes. The Tri-Cities Airport offers both short-term and long-term parking options. Please visit the Parking page for a map of the parking lots and more information.

Parking at the Tri-Cities Airport is handled by Parking Concepts Inc. Rates for each lot can be found on the Parking & Transportation page.

Call the local Parking Concepts Inc. office at 509-883-8446. You will need to provide the date, time, exit gate, and the last four digits of the credit card used.

Several rental car companies serve the Tri-Cities Airport. They are located next to baggage claim, west of the Entrance Lobby. Please reference the Terminal Map for more information.

Yes. There is space located in front of the main terminal building for Uber, Lyft, taxis, and shuttles to pick up and drop off passengers. Please reference the Parking page for a map and more information.

If you are waiting to pick up a passenger, please use the Cell Phone Lot. This area is for loading and unloading only. Drivers can wait for free for up to 60 minutes, and cannot leave their cars unattended. No limousines or commercial vehicles will be permitted. Unattended vehicles will be cited.

Drivers are never permitted to wait on the airport terminal curb, so the new lot will provide a convenient and safe place to wait until they receive a call from friends or family that they can come to the terminal curb. The Cell Phone Lot also provides an alternative to driving around the airport property while waiting for travelers.

Security

Beginning May 7, 2025, adult passengers 18 and over must show valid identification that is REAL ID-compliant at the airport checkpoint to travel. TSA does not require children under 18 to provide identification when traveling with an adult companion within the United States. Contact the airline for questions regarding unaccompanied minors.

Passengers who present a state-issued identification that is not REAL ID compliant at TSA checkpoints and who do not have another acceptable alternative form of ID will be notified of their non-compliance, may be directed to a separate area and may receive additional screening. This includes TSA PreCheck passengers.

In the event you arrive at the airport without proper ID, because it is lost or at home, you may still be allowed to fly. TSA will take you aside and ask additional questions to confirm your identity. Be sure to allow additional time for the screening process.

Yes, TSA PreCheck® is available at the Tri-Cities Airport.

Traveling with Children

Children under the age of 18 traveling within the United States are not required to have government-issued photo identification. Please contact your airline regarding requirements for traveling with minors. Airline policies vary.

Parents or guardians who want to escort a child to or from the gate must obtain a gate pass from the airline, or they can use the PSC Pass. Gate passes are issued at the sole discretion of the airline. Please be prepared to provide government-issued photo identification. For more information, contact your airline.

PSC offers family restrooms before the security checkpoint, near the baggage claim area. There are two additional family restrooms after the security checkpoint, located near the Lower West Passenger and East Passenger seating areas. Please reference the Terminal Map for more information.
